Learning Lessons: Scaling revenue shouldn't mean scaling your administrative headcount. When you automate the plumbing, you create a system that absorbs explosive growth while keeping overhead lean.
Situation: 2GIG Technologies was experiencing explosive growth, but their back office was drowning. When an order arrived via email, a team of four full-time clerks and two part-time assistants had to manually double-enter the exact same data—first into an order tracking system, and then again into the accounting software.
Task: Eliminate the massive double-data entry bottleneck by creating an automated bridge between systems to support soaring sales volumes.
Action: I stepped in to architect and execute an API integration strategy. Instead of forcing manual entry across multiple screens, I built an automated backend process: the moment a clerk entered an order cleanly into the accounting system, my application automatically transferred, validated, and generated the order in the production system.
Result: The API bridge let the team absorb a 100% revenue surge—from $90M to $180M—while actually reducing headcount. We saved $100,000 in labor by letting three people dominate a workflow that previously drowned six. Productivity exploded because the friction of double-entry was permanently deleted.
