Situation: 2GIG Technologies issued a component recall requiring the audit department to manually verify a staggering 15,000 incoming parts. The team’s foundational logic was airtight: look at a part's manufacturing date on one spreadsheet, cross-reference it with a vendor shipping order on another sheet, and confirm eligibility for a refund. Because it was an entirely manual, eye-straining double-lookup process, it took the team two full weeks just to clear the first 100 parts. At that rate, processing the full backlog would require over 1,500 grueling hours.

Task: Step in as a technical mechanic to accelerate the team's existing verification logic without disrupting their established criteria or adding compliance risks.

Action: I sat down with the team to watch their workflow and validate their process. Seeing the mechanical drag of manual data entry, I quickly wired up an Excel macro to instantly automate the dual-spreadsheet cross-referencing loop. Then, noticing that the long serial numbers they were painstakingly typing by hand were already printed as barcodes on the physical parts, I grabbed a standard hardware barcode scanner and hooked it into their system to completely bypass the keyboard bottleneck.
